Based on the classic slasher films from the 70s and 80s, the game drops the player into a randomly generated house with only a flashlight and a list of items needed to escape. Even if the house seems empty, you can hear things lurking just out of sight.
The core design is based on the idea of exploring abandoned locations, creating tension through only being able to see where you can shine your flashlight. Controls have been designed in mind to let the player look around and move independently. On top of collecting items need to escape, there are also journals that give secret messages to unlock doors and possibly a secret ending.
The house itself is randomly generated, selecting from a list of pre-rendered rooms and placing/rotating based on their layout on each floor of the house. This is accomplished using a node system that populates at run time.
